ACT Entertainment Unveils RAT Sterling Vermin Pedal At NAMM 2026

News Image
ACT Entertainment's RAT brand is introducing its latest pedal, the Sterling Vermin, at the 2026 NAMM Show (Booth 5227).

Designed as a boutique take on RAT's hallmark distortion, it blends classic character with contemporary precision and versatility.

Built with premium components and a purposefully refined feel, the Sterling Vermin spans a broad tonal palette—from low‑gain textures reminiscent of a Klon or Bluesbreaker to high‑gain settings similar to Big Muff pedals—while maintaining a tight, controlled response that points to the future of dynamic distortion.

At its core is an LM741 op‑amp and a pair of selectable clipping diodes. Players can switch between the traditional RAT silicon diode configuration for a punchy, mid‑range bite or choose BAT41 diodes for a smoother, more balanced response. The result is a unit equally comfortable delivering snarling distortion or articulate, low‑gain overdrive, with a wide, usable sweep across the entire gain range.

Further refinements include CTS pots and oversized knobs for even, responsive control with a satisfyingly smooth rotation and just the right amount of resistance. A polished stainless‑steel enclosure with laser‑annealed graphics underscores the union of vintage flavour and striking modern design.

"The Sterling Vermin embodies what RAT has always stood for: character, creativity and great tone, now with a boutique approach that emphasizes feel and craftsmanship," says Shawn Wells, Market Manager — Sound, ACT Entertainment, who designed the pedal along with his colleague Matt Gates. "It’s meant for players who appreciate the nuance in their sound and the detail in their gear."
