CJP Broadcast Completes Digitisation Of European Gymnastics Archive

CJP Broadcast has completed the digitisation of the European Gymnastics tape archive, converting 328 tapes containing more than 40 years of recorded material into a secure digital format.

The project was carried out to preserve historically significant footage and ensure long-term access to content previously stored on ageing physical media.

Prior to the transfer process, CJP Broadcast conducted a detailed assessment of the collection. The digitisation work utilised M2000 and VHS playback machines, alongside a Sony PDW-U1, with all material ingested through controlled workflows and transcoded to the Matroska FFV1 format for long-term archival storage.

The newly digitised archive provides European Gymnastics with a centralised and accessible digital collection, supporting internal reference, historical documentation and broader media usage.

European Gymnastics said the project was undertaken to bring previously inaccessible archive content into the public eye. "We wanted to preserve our content as it’s our historical legacy. Covering over forty years of gymnastics history, the value to our community is immense and it deserves to be visible.
