HK Audio Powers Heart & Heavy Charity Concert

HK Audio has once again lent its support to the annual Heart & Heavy charity concert in Lebach, Germany, helping to deliver a powerful live sound experience while supporting fundraising efforts for children and families living with severe illnesses.

The event, held at the Lebach Stadthalle, is the flagship concert of the Rock Meets Benefiz initiative and has grown into a major charitable fixture since it was founded in 2017 by Carsten Graf and Christian Karlowatz. The initiative is driven largely by volunteers and supported by more than 300 contributors who raise funds through donations and grassroots fundraising activities. Last year alone, the group raised €140,000, with all proceeds going directly to families in need.

Carsten Graf, co-organiser of the event, said: "Heart & Heavy has really become the centre of what we do. This show brings everyone together - artists, volunteers, engineers and the whole community. Every contribution, no matter how small, genuinely changes lives."

Christian Karlowatz said the long-term support of partners such as HK Audio has been central to the event’s success.

"We started as a tiny idea with almost no resources, just a desire to help. Today, Heart & Heavy has become something meaningful - not only for us, but for the children and families who depend on these funds. None of this would be possible without the people and companies who stand with us year after year."

For this year's concert, HK Audio supplied a tailored CONCERT SOUND 2.0 system designed specifically for the venue. The setup was centred on a COSMO C8 line array to provide even coverage throughout the hall, while a cardioid subwoofer configuration using CS 218 and CS 118 units delivered controlled low-frequency energy, reducing stage noise while maintaining impact for the audience.

Additional support came from CX 210 LT front-fill speakers for improved clarity in the front rows, alongside CX 12 monitors and dedicated drum fills to support onstage performance. The overall system was designed to deliver a balanced and controlled sound experience for both performers and audience members.

HK Audio's Ole Osterthun, who configured and oversaw the system, said: "We built a special COSMO setup to get the best possible result in this venue. The cardioid sub array kept the low end powerful for the audience but surprisingly quiet on stage. Between the CX 210 LT frontfills and the CX 12 monitoring, the clarity was excellent - the musicians heard exactly what they needed all night."

Looking ahead, organisers said the Heart & Heavy concert will continue to focus on using live music to support families facing serious health challenges. Christian Karlowatz said the ambition remains to expand the initiative's reach and impact.

"This project may have started small, but the impact is huge and with more support, we can keep growing and keep helping the people who need it most."
