Ikegami Maintains Initiative In Broadcast Systems Development Throughout 2025

Ikegami reports ongoing advances throughout 2025 in developing and delivering coordinated television production solutions that maximize quality, versatility and operational efficiency.

Introduced to American broadcasters at April NAB Show in Las Vegas were the UHL-X40 ultra-compact 4K-UHD camera, IPX-100 IP extension unit and enhanced ULE-217-HDR 21.5-inch Full-HD LCD monitor.

Ikegami UHL-X40 ultra-compact 4K-UHD camera
The UHL-X40 is box style UHD camera designed for robotic or fixed-mount applications requiring an inconspicuous camera with uncompromised performance. The camera head measures just 120 x 128 x 111.9 mm (4.7 x 5 x 4.4 inches) WHD and weighs only 1.1 kg (2.4 pounds). Its electronics are housed in a separate compact control unit measuring just 145 x 145 x 173 mm (5.7 x 5.7 x 6.8 inches) WHD and weighing 2.6 kg (5.7 pounds). Camera head and CCU can be linked by up to 10 km (6.2 miles) of duplex single-mode fiber carrying uncompressed RGB raw pixel data. The connecting fiber includes a 100BASE-T Ethernet trunk for external data such as pan/tilt control. Equipped with three ⅔-inch CMOS UHD sensors, the UHL-X40 offers most of the key features of the UNICAM XE camera family. The CCU can deliver a simultaneous downconversion of the full 3840 x 2160 resolution UHD frame plus a 1920 x 1080 native cutout of the central area. Vertical image inversion function can be selected for upside-down overhead suspension which saves having to assign a production switcher channel to perform the inversion.

Ikegami IPX-100 IP extension unit
The IPX-100 IP extension unit offers an alternative to the conventional base station or CCU for applications where IP interface of video, audio and intercom are planned from day one. Just 2U high by half 19-inch rack width, the IPX-100 is small and light weight, ideal for use in mobile production vehicles, REMI equipment rooms and wherever space is at a premium. For throw down applications, it can be ordered with a convenient carry handle. The IPX-100 has the same robust camera head power capacity as the BSX-100, providing power via conventional SMPTE-hybrid fiber camera cable at a distance of up to 3.5 km (2.2 miles) depending on camera model and configuration. An integral test signal generator allows IP system configuration before a camera head is connected. Three versions of the IPX-100 are available: IPX-100H for the HDK-X500 and the latest UNICAM HD cameras, IPX-100U for UNICAM XE 4K/UHD cameras, and IPX-100M for UNICAM HD as well as UNICAM XE models.

Ikegami ULE-217-HDR Full-HD HDR/SDR video quality monitor
The ULE-217-HDR is a Full-HD HDR/SDR video quality monitor specifically for the United States market. An enhanced version of the established Ikegami ULE-217 21.5 inch picture monitor, it is designed for use in studio control rooms, mobile production units and post-production suites. Space efficient and energy efficient, the monitor is equipped with a 21.5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel LED display, recently upgraded from 500 to 1,000 nits brightness.

The Ikegami product range was further expanded with the European market introduction of the UHK-X700RF wireless studio/portable camera. A further addition was the VFE-P711AD 7-inch OLED viewfinder, introduced at IBC Amsterdam mid September and Inter BEE Tokyo in November.

Ikegami UHK-X700RF wireless UHD camera
Targeted for European customers, the UNICAM XE UHK-X700RF is a wireless portable version of the established UHK-X700 camera. It offers producers the freedom to introduce unusual-angle shots at short notice, opening many creative perspectives for applications such as news, OB sports and coverage of stage events. Like the UHK-X700, the RF version can be pedestal-mounted, tripod-mounted or operated over the shoulder. Features include a global shutter architecture allowing natural images to be captured even under challenging situations. The transmitter operates in the 2 to 2.7 GHz band and employs DVB-T transmission technology with 4K HEVC coding (H.264 and H.265). Low latency (40 ms) allows the wireless camera to be used seamlessly in a multi camera environment. The integrated transceiver for camera remote, tally and intercom signal transmission is a further advantage of the UHK-X700RF.

Ikegami VFE-P711AD 7-inch OLED viewfinder
Introduced at IBC Amsterdam mid September and Inter BEE Tokyo in November, the new VFE-P711AD is a 7-inch high resolution OLED model compatible with all UNICAM XE and UNICAM HD cameras. Developed from the established VFL-P700AD LCD viewfinder, the OLED version offers very high quality chroma reproduction, high brightness and high contrast ratio, ensuring clear visibility even in environments with intense ambient light. The fast response time of the OLED panel enhances the operating experience, especially when capturing content in high frame rate mode where precise focusing and framing are vital. Integral features include an external SDI input for temporarily monitoring the video of a POV camera or other video source lacking its own viewfinder or monitor. The viewfinder also incorporates two front-facing green/red tally indicators plus a rear-facing red tally. The VFE-P711AD supports digital interfacing to a UNICAM XE camera or can be connected via an optional VFC-700i5 analog cable to any camera in the UNICAM HD series.

Ikegami HDK-X500 HD portable camera system
Debuted in 2024 and now fully deliverable, the HDK-X500 HD portable camera system is an entry-level model within the UNICAM XE camera family. It can be configured easily for pedestal-mounted studio operation, tripod-based sports coverage and shoulder-mounted outdoor production. Three latest-generation 2/3-inch CMOS sensors with a global shutter architecture enable the camera to capture natural images even in challenging situations. HDR video can be produced by using the pre-installed HLG optoelectronic transfer function conforming to ITU-R BT.2100. HDK-X500 performance parameters include 1000 TVL typical center resolution at 5% modulation, 62 dB typical signal to noise ratio and F11 sensitivity (1080i/59.94). The HDK-X500 is also capable of high-frame-rate capture at 1080i 119.88 Hz and 100 Hz.
