Skyline Communications Strengthens Engagement In Sub-Saharan Africa

Skyline Communications is strengthening its strategic engagement in Sub-Saharan Africa, one of the fastest-evolving digital regions in the world.
Building on years of activity in the region, Skyline is consolidating its presence with the appointment of Paul Strydom as Regional Account Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa.
The appointment comes as the region continues its digital transformation. With a population expected to double by 2050, the rising urbanization, expanding connectivity, and increasing demand for sustainable solutions are driving steady investment in content production, mobile platforms, education technology, and smart, resilient infrastructure. Meeting these needs requires flexible, vendor-agnostic platforms that can adapt to highly diverse environments.
"We're seeing a strong convergence of long-term opportunity," said Glenn D’Haene, VP Sales Operations at Skyline Communications. "Broadcasters need agile workflows, telcos are managing increasingly complex multi-vendor networks, and governments are prioritizing smart infrastructure. DataMiner empowers operators to unify and optimize across all these domains."
These evolving needs are directly aligned with Skyline's portfolio. For media companies, dataminer.MediaOps enables more agile content production and distribution, automating workflows across hybrid production setups and distributed teams. This helps reduce production costs, accelerate time-to-air, and simplify the localisation of content for different regions and languages, all key factors in serving the continent’s appetite for local films, music, and news.
Meanwhile, dataminer.SatOps empowers satellite operators to extend vital services such as reliable delivery of internet, TV, e-learning, and e-health services via satellite networks. By unifying visibility and control across both terrestrial and satellite domains, operators can optimise bandwidth usage, minimise downtime, and scale services faster.
As cities expand, local governments and service providers are also turning to smart technologies for energy, mobility, and security. Skyline’s smart infrastructure solutions, built on the same DataMiner platform, support intelligent monitoring, IoT integration, and predictive analytics, laying the foundation for smarter, more resilient, and more sustainable urban ecosystems.
Skyline Communications has been active in Africa for many years, with long-standing relationships with major players including MultiChoice, SABC, Sentech, and Ivoirienne de Télédiffusion. These partnerships have consistently delivered double-digit efficiency improvements and reduced operational complexity across multiple domains.
"Across the region, we already see broadcasters, telcos, and infrastructure providers adopting DataMiner to unify and scale their operations," Glenn continued. "With Paul now on board, we’re better positioned to deepen those partnerships and respond locally to a rapidly changing market landscape."
Based in Johannesburg, Paul Strydom brings over 20 years of experience in the ICT and telecom sectors. He will focus not only on Skyline’s traditional strengths in broadcast and satellite, but also on fast-growing verticals such as energy, mining, and smart infrastructure.
"I'm excited to help our users and partners in Sub-Saharan Africa move from fragmented systems to unified, intelligent operations," said Paul Strydom, Regional Account Manager. "DataMiner doesn't just provide tools, it enables entire organisations to operate more efficiently, make better decisions, and adapt quickly to changing needs in a future-proof way."
Paul Strydom will also be present at IBC 2025 in Amsterdam, where the company will showcase its latest innovations. Visitors from across the region are invited to connect and explore how Skyline’s technology can support their strategic goals.
