RMG Expands Its Use Of The Livelink Platform

News Image
Cerberus Tech today announced that Racecourse Media Group (RMG) has expanded its use of the Livelink platform to simplify and streamline the distribution of live horseracing content to a global network of broadcasters.

By leveraging Cerberus Tech's provisioning, orchestration, and automation technology for live video delivery, RMG has improved service reliability, enhanced operational flexibility, and cut distribution costs, particularly for occasional-use feeds and complex same-day events.

"Normally, we only ever hear from our clients if things go wrong, so the silence since we started working with Cerberus Tech has been music to our ears," said Seb Vance, Director of Communications and International TV Distribution at RMG. "We like the Cerberus Tech team and their can-do attitude, and we've found they deliver value-for-money services and support with a minimum of fuss."

RMG initially turned to Cerberus Tech following technical challenges with traditional delivery methods as well as its positive experience working with Cerberus Tech on delivering permanent live feeds to Tabcorp. As other clients began to indicate a preference for collecting feeds via IP-based delivery, RMG looked to Livelink for a scalable, easy-to-manage solution.

The company now uses Livelink to manage both 24/7 and occasional-use workflows, routing live streams to a half-dozen or more global takers. The platform has proved especially valuable on high-demand race days. For example, when two of horse racing’s biggest events — the Grand National at Aintree and the Dubai World Cup — took place on the same day in April, RMG was able to distribute multiple feeds, using Livelink, without incurring the steep costs typically associated with satellite deployment. Cerberus Tech handled configuration, onboarding, and global IP delivery, enabling RMG to focus on producing content.

Cerberus Tech provides setup, monitoring, technical support, and taker coordination as part of the Livelink managed service, enabling RMG’s technical operators to focus on their core operations while accessing the benefit of Cerberus Tech’s inhouse expertise. Livelink will continue to support RMG’s IP footprint as it grows, as a managed service in the short term and possibly as a self-service offering in the future.
