ROGERS APPOINTED HEAD OF DESIGN AT BBC NEW MEDIA

Ashley Highfield, Director of BBC New Media, completed the appointment of his new team, with the announcement that Steve Rogers is to be the Head of Design and Navigation.
Rogers will have responsibility for both the BBC’s internet and interactive television operations, helping to create a consistent look and feel to content no matter where and how customers access it.
He will join the BBC from Razorfish, the US-based web consultancy, where he is Vice President of Physical Design, leading a team of industrial designers, hardware, software and mechanical engineers.
Rogers began his career working as a product designer for Norville Optical, before joining Philips Design in 1986, initially working on video still cameras, audio cassettes and VCRs in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. He went on to become Global Account Manager at Video Equipment; Studio Manager at Philips Design in Vienna and Deign Director at Philips Design in the USA.
In his final role with Philips he worked on the product and interface designs for both TiVo and WebTV, as well as consumer electronics and mobile computing products.
Rogers said: “I’m thrilled to be joining BBC New Media at such an exciting time, with some major innovations on the horizon and a whole new approach being taken to design and navigation on both the internet and interactive TV. I’m looking forward to working with the teams behind the BBC’s award-winning services.” (CD)
