UK debut for root6 ContentAgent system

ContentAgent, showcased in prototype form at IBC, was demonstrated for the first time in the UK at The Broadcast Production Show.
Designed by root6 Technology, the new product development arm of re-seller root6, ContentAgent has been shipping since April this year and its workflow benefits are already proving extremely popular with facilities and corporates alike.
In its first month of shipping, ContentAgent has been purchased by Ascent Media, Lip Sync Post, Midnight Transfer, TC Soho, On Sight, Stream, Rough Cuts and The Farm in London and Mikros Image in Paris. Additional sales have been made to Unilever and The European Commission.
ContentAgent streamlines the capture, multi-format encoding, management and distribution of digital video in a 2U rack-mounted frame, designed for machine room installation. Expandable memory and storage provide a scalable solution when needs change.
Using ContentAgent, digital media files may be imported from any source and exported to any destination including SMB network shares, FTP sites and Asset Management Systems in addition to Compact Flash, SD, Memorystick, CD-ROM and DVD.
Multiformat compilations for SDI playout are easily achieved and custom tools are provided for the creation of titles, graphics and slates with a simple trimming tool for removing clocks. Job templates can be created and stored for consistent results, and unattended batch capture is easily set up, if required.
The advanced scripting system in ContentAgent considerably extends versatility as it allows the implementation of custom programming. Unilever, for example, will make use of this feature to marry required metadata to clips as it starts to convert its vast commercials archive held on tape to MPEG video.
An integral DVD burner enables the automatic creation of DVDs from playlists, complete with media icons and simple navigation chapter points. Interactive DVD creation requires no authoring experience and involves just a couple of clicks.
Soho's Midnight Transfer will use this feature for the creation of digital dailies with metadata imported via Avid Log Exchange.
ContentAgent is priced from £11,950 with options for SDI out and a touch screen interface.
