Caton Technology Launches Two New Switchable Encoder-Decoder Appliances

News Image
Caton Technology has further extended its solutions with two new switchable encoder-decoder appliances.

Each is designed to deliver securely encrypted, high value content over any IP network, using the Caton Transport Protocols (CTP) and other industry protocols.

Major content creators, broadcasters and service providers in more than 60 countries worldwide are already using the CatonNet Video Platform (CVP). The two new devices add to the functionality and flexibility of the broadcast-grade media transmission service.

Caton Prime is an ultra-low latency HEVC encoder and decoder, capable of resolutions up to 4k Ultra HD. It provides broadcast level video quality and unmatched reliability. Caton Prime is highly interoperable, supporting not just CTP, but also other major industry-standard protocols like SRT and UDP. Caton Prime is the choice for the international delivery of high value content when best connections are demanded, such as 24-hour broadcasting. It is also ideal for other applications like houses of worship, tele-medicine and enterprise business services.

Caton Live brings unrivalled versatility to IP transmission by offering both an encoder and decoder in a single portable device. Designed for delivery to multiple platforms, it supports H.264 video at streaming rates up to 20 Mb/s, from 3G-SDI and HDMI inputs. The compact, ruggedised device is ideal for live-streaming applications such as sports and events, conferences and education, house of worship and business.

"Our extensive experience in connecting events and content businesses, across the country or across the globe, gives us a great understanding of what the market really needs," said Gerald Wong, Senior Vice President, Global Operations of Caton Technology. "Caton Prime was developed to meet the needs of our customers who expect to seamlessly deliver Ultra HD video. We also have many users setting up ad-hoc connections to the public internet, who want a portable and flexible device that delivers excellent quality and stability over limited bandwidths, which is why we added Caton Live."
