News Image
London Film School (LFS) has announced that a recent graduate, Rafael Manuel, had won the Silver Bear at the prestigious Berlinale Film Festival for the Short Film Jury Prize with his LFS graduation film, Filipiñana!

Director of LFS, Gisli Snaer, said: "We are all tremendously proud of Rafael and the entire Filipiñana crew for producing such a stunning, unique film. Each and every one of them richly deserved to be nominated and win this prestigious award."

LFS is no stranger to success at the Berlinale: In 2018, graduate Lara Zeidan won the Teddy Award with Three Centimetres. In 2017, the LFS community celebrated three wins at the Berlinale: MA Screenwriting graduate Gonzalo Maza, for what was going to be an Oscar-winner Una Mujer Fantastica (A Fantastic Woman) won Silver Bear for Best Screenplay, the Teddy Award, Best Feature Film, Independent Juries, Ecumenical Juries, Ecumenical Jury, and a Special mention; LFS tutor Rafael Kapelinski won Generation 14plus, Crystal Bear for Best Film with Butterfly Kisses; and MA Filmmaking graduate Carla Simon won the Grand Prix of Generation kPlus International Jury (ex aequo) and GWFF best first feature with Estiu 1993 (Summer 1993). Once again, a huge congratulations to Rafael and the Filipiñana crew.
