Short film screening at NFT offers preview footage of ‘Alexander’

Brighton-based filmmaker and Lighthouse screenwriting student Suzanne Gielgud's first short film is to be screened tomorrow at the National Film Theatre.
'Piers Gielgud In Rehearsal' is an eight minute film documenting the work of choreographer Piers Gielgud as he rehearses the cast for a large dance scene in Oliver Stone's new forthcoming feature ‘Alexander’, the epic story of Alexander the Great. As casting director for all the dancers on the movie, Suzanne had exclusive access to the rehearsals so was able to film the process. Oliver Stone has given his seal of approval for it to be shown tomorrow at the NFT at an event about choreography for the screen which Gielgud has been invited to talk at. Its a great opportunity to see some exclusive advance footage of some of the work of this epic movie being released next autumn.
The event is part of the Constellation Change Screen Dance Festival and is a panel discussion focusing on dance within film. This year a stimulating mix of four choreographers with a wide range of film experiences will share and give an insight into their work.
