ALTERED IMAGES ADD BITE TO BIARRITZ FACILITY

ALTERED Images, the London-based digital broadcast systems reseller, have just completed a major installation contract in Biarritz, France for Chilli Industries, the freesport marketing and production subsidiary of Sportsworld Media Group.
The Biarritz project is Altered Images’ first major contract outside the UK. The brief was to build a brand new dubbing facility to enable Chilli Industries to service clip and archive footage sales quickly and efficiently, and take video input from many different sources and turn it into broadcast quality output in various formats.
Altered Images worked closely with Brian Cutts, Chilli Industries’ project manager. The equipment installed included Digital Betacam and Betacam SP recorders in PAL and NTSC, combined with a Snell & Wilcox Mach 1 standards converter.
Clive Haydon, Altered Images’ systems/project director, said: “Our business is built on carrying out projects like this, but in the main, the installations tend to be here in the UK. The real issue was that Chilli Industries’ new facility was in the South of France, not Soho, which gave us an additional logistical challenge.”
Altered Images pre-built, configured and tested the system at its HQ in Isleworth. It was then broken down and repacked for shipping to the South of France, where the Altered Images team carried out the final build.
