Lipsync Post install two Arri Laser Film Recorders

Soho's Lipsync Post have become the first UK facility to install two Arri Laser Film Recorders, adding significantly increased capacity to the company's Digital Film Department.
One of the first projects undertaken with the new system was 'The Day I Will Never Forget,' a powerful 90-minute documentary film from director Kim Longinotto exploring the continuing practice of female genital mutilation in Kenyan society. The film, originally shot on Super 16mm and graded on DigiBeta, was transferred to 35mm at Lipsync using the company's proprietary video-to-film software, for screening at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival in late January.
Lipsync Head of Post Production, Kevin Phelan, said: "Filmmaking on digital formats, or post-producing film-originated material on digital formats for theatrical release, is a practical reality.
"It's an affordable route for directors to take and an increasing number of people are doing so"
While the acquisition of a second laser film recorder makes us well-positioned to address this market, it's also extremely important for adding value to the work passing through our graphics and sound departments."
