Rushes create '15 Storey' high profile titles

Rushes Postproduction 3D Department have been asked to create the title sequence for the next series of '15 Storeys High' for the BBC.
The Director, Mark Nunnely, asked for a sequence that would recreate the style of sixties architectural drawings for the Brandon Estate in South London, where the series is located.
"Mark brought in some fantastic mood boards for the sequence, so we knew exactly the look he was after. We recreated this very graphic style using a combination of Maya and the Tomcat cartoon renderer." said 3D artist Hayden Jones, " It was a great challenge to create the complexity of model that Mark wanted, while designing a non-photo real aesthetic that matched with his vision."
Once the buildings had been recreated in Maya, they were passed on to animator Craig Travis, who painstakingly animated every single brick to create the effect of the tower block building up from nothing. The final shot dissolves into a view of the Brandon Estate in the present day. Hayden created a matte painting which he then composited using Shake.
The series, produced by Phil Bowker is due to be on BBC 3 in early 2004.
