Discreet software used for 'Elf' IMAX release
Discreet's 3ds max has been used by VFX studio Digital Dimension, whose film credits include 'Bulletproof Monk', 'Final Destination II' and 'Cradle to the Grave', to generate many of the special effects for the IMAX version of Christmas cinema blockbuster 'Elf'.
The Digital Dimension team used 3ds max to create stunningly realistic 3D snowballs in the snowball fight in Central Park sequence and specifically the particle flow tools to produce snowball impact effects on actor Will Ferrell as he runs through the Park, being bombarded by children.
