LACIE UNVEILS THE INDUSTRY’S FIRST U&I BACKUP DRIVE

LaCie has announced the demonstration of the first high-performance backup system to offer U&I, LaCie’s dual-support both Universal Serial Bus (USB) and FireWire (IEEE 1394) interfaces.
The AIT1 U&I backup solution combines a tape capacity of 70GB (compressed) with a compressed transfer rate of 8MB/s regardless of the interface.
The high capacity of the tapes makes the new LaCie device ideal for multimedia professionals as storage needs rapidly increase. The LaCie AIT1 U&I also comes with Dantz Retrospect Desktop for both Mac OS and Windows, one of the most sophisticated backup software on the market which carries out automated and incremental backups.
The first backup device with such a unique combination of features, LaCie say that the AIT1 U&I meets the data protection needs of both small to medium-sized servers and individual workstations.
The LaCie AIT1 U&I drive is hot pluggable therefore it can be added or removed while the computer is running with immediate recognition and backup can be initiated within minutes.
Offering an average of 30,000 uses and a MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) rating of 250,000 hours, LaCie claim that the AIT1 U&I drive is an ideal backup/recovery solution for businesses and graphics professionals alike.
