TSI to host series of educational HD sessions

Independent broadcast services company TSI are to hosting a series of six informal High Definition evenings designed to help producers cut through the HD mire.
The events will be held at TSI’s Grape Street facility on a weekly basis from February 5 to March 12.
The evenings will take the format of an informal Q&A session. Producers will have the opportunity to raise key HD issues with TSI Senior Editor, Dicky Everton, and discuss how best to shoot for HD post-production. In particular, TSI will demonstrate the flexibility and creativity of its smoke non-linear HD editing system, and how it deals with the high-bandwidth requirements of HD material.
Managing Director of TSI, Simon Peach, said: “While the HD market is still in its infancy in the UK, we are beginning to see more and more HD projects trickling through, particularly for programming destined for the US market. The problem is that with over 30 different standards and issues such as frame rates and aspect ratios to consider, many new challenges are thrown up. We are aiming to have an informal networking evening with producers to discuss some of the key issues and see how we have resolved them during recent TSI projects.”
For more information on the evenings and to reserve a place contact Shula Fitzgerald on +44 (0) 20 7419 1414.
