UK filmmakers go Dutch at Rotterdam Film Market
THE Film Council's New Cinema Fund are to sponsor this year's CineMart at the Rotterdam International Film Festival.
The fund will give €10,000 (£6,200) to support the CineMart International Training Project, which is aimed at giving young talented and emerging producers the possibility to get more acquainted with the international film festival and market.
Four UK producers will travel over to the festival this weekend: Natasha Dack (Tigerlily Films), Stella Nwimo (Riverchild Films), John Rushton (Acier Productions) and Mariam Issimdar (Stealing Thunder Productions).
Every year, the CineMart invites a select number of producers to present their film projects to potential co-producers, bankers, funds, sales agents, distributors, and TV stations. The five-day event that takes place during the festival, offers highly productive opportunities to network, and discuss projects.
The New Cinema Fund hopes these filmmakers will also be able to benefit from the Rotterdam-Berlinale Express, a scouting procedure that uses CineMart to showcase projects at the European Film Market beginning in Berlin on 6 February.
