Media Antenna announce European funding for Wales
The Welsh Media Antenna, based at Sgrîn’s offices in Cardiff, have been working constantly for years on behalf of the Media Sector in Wales, ensuring that development and production funds find their way into the bank accounts of innovative companies.
The latest round of European Media development funding has been announced with a further £270,000 awarded to companies from Wales working in all aspects of the Media industry.
Cardiff’s Beryl Productions International, known for Oscar winning 'Famous Fred' and the Charmin adverts will be one of the recipients, alongside Karl Francis’ Bloom Street Productions. Teledu Telesgop based in Llandeilo and Ugh! based in Llanelli have been awarded slate funding for a raft of projects.
Not ones to rest on their laurels, the staff of the Media Antenna are busy organising a project mentoring seminar to take place in Cardiff on the of February 10-11. The seminar will be organised with John Marshall of Docos.com, an industry professional who is an expert on co-productions. The two-day seminar is aimed at offering Welsh companies the required tools to compete on the World media stage – offering a structured analysis of the Media Industry worldwide, guidance on the preparation and presentation of projects to potential partners and advice on following up prospective contacts. The seminar is open to 10 companies and is free of charge.
“The mentoring offered to producers in Wales by John Marshall will significantly strengthen the capacity of Welsh producers to compete on an international stage as well as improve the international partnering capabilities which is an integral part of the European Union's MEDIA Plus programme," commented Gwion Owain, MEDIA Antenna Wales Co-ordinator.
