Ultra 2.2 Release For BVE Show

News Image
With more and more leading manufacturers now delivering 4K / UHD products with 12G-SDI, 6G-SDI and quad link 3G-SDI interfaces, one of the major challenges for companies involved in the delivery of video programming is the ability to keep up to speed with the rapidly developing technological landscape.

With increasingly complex multiple delivery processes and platforms the need for a robust test and measurement solution has never been more important. The emergence of these transformational technologies means equipment manufacturers and early broadcast adopters need new test equipment that measures and generates signals to test their designs and systems.

At BVE 2016, Omnitek will showcase the Ultra 2.2 release which adds new tools to its highly successful Ultra 4K Tool Box that has already been adopted by a large number of leading broadcast manufacturers developing equipment requiring quad 3G-, dual 6G- and 12G-SDI interfaces. It has also been widely accepted by broadcasters, systems integrators and Telcos as the 4K test equipment of choice.

The Ultra has been created to help address the problems of connectivity that manufacturers and system designers currently face in the implementation of new 4K / UHD broadcast workflows. The Ultra is a small, portable test and measurement platform that helps to debug high-speed physical layer issues and pixel ordering complexities whilst supporting the array of different interface standards to ensure all bases are covered now and in the future.

It boasts significant world-first feature sets that allow the analysis, generation and conversion between any video format signals, including between quad 3G and 12G-SDI, as well as support for 4K60 over 12G-SDI. Ultra offers Eye & Jitter analysis up to 12G-SDI and include unique tools to determine sources of jitter using the Ultra’s innovative Jitter Spectrum and Jitter Histogram displays typically only available on high-end real-time oscilloscopes.

In addition to its high end features such as 12G physical layer analysis it has the day to day tools required to help the integration of equipment into new 4K workflows. The Ultra 4K Tool Box provides link timing measurement and offset tools to allow the correct set-up of Quad Link, Dual Link, single link 3G, 6G and 12G-SDI signals.

Tools such as Picture, Video and ANC status, gamut meters and test pattern generation of any video format up to UHD / 4K over interfaces including HDMI, DisplayPort and SDI from SD to 12G-SDI. Enhancements made in the Ultra 2.2 release also includes features such as audio PPM, channel status displays, tone generation and full raster video analysis including blanking.

The Hex View display now expands on the extremely useful Data View, Cable View and Zoom View instruments for even more detailed pixel - level interrogation that is essential to understanding the complexities of the multiplexing systems that have been adopted for 4K over SDI.

The ANC watch display provides ancillary packet presence detection to easily see which common and user-specified packets are present in the incoming stream, which is an essential tool to ensure that metadata moves seamlessly between different interfaces.
