Channel 4 receive top award for innovation in learning

Channel 4’s new management development programme, which use their most popular shows to demonstrate essential personnel techniques to employees, have picked up a top award for corporate learning.
Big-budget television set pieces like 'Shackleton' can be used to teach leadership skills and the 'So Graham Norton' has been deployed to demonstrate interview techniques.
The Best Practice Award was presented to the broadcaster at the UK-wide Innovators In Learning awards in Edinburgh. The event was organised through the corporate learning company BusinessLab and was hosted by Dr Peter Senge – an internationally recognised business guru and author of the best-selling works 'The Fifth Discipline' and 'The Dance of Change'.
Consultants from BusinessLab carried out a study of Channel 4’s learning practices and were impressed with their creative use of broadcasting technology and programme content in support of their widening learning opportunities.
A new Certificate in Management qualification, which was launched within the channel this year, was praised for making full use of learning methods and technologies.
Channel 4’s Head of Programmes, Nations & Regions, Stuart Cosgrove (pictured), said: “We are delighted to have been recognised for our endeavours to introduce innovative ways of learning to improve the skills of not only our own staff but across the industry.”
