Editec Equips With I-MOVIX Wireless Ultra Motion

News Image
The now industry standard Ultra Motion I-MOVIX camera has reached yet another milestone in its flexibility – hand-held RF operation.

This option is now available from Editec in the UK, using the very latest X10 UHD camera, I-MOVIX have released a simple but powerful interface module that enables both camera live and replay channels together with control data to be passed over standard camera RF links.

Steve Cotterill, Managing Director at Editec, said: "Presenting the signals for connection to RF equipment is only part of the challenge and a specialist supplier is required to achieve that goal. It was very important to us that we chose the right company to integrate our camera into the hand-held environment. Having worked on many OBs where RF cameras were being used, I was always particularly impressed with the solid performance of RF facilities provided by BSI so my choice of supplier was straightforward.

"Broadcast Sports Inc. (BSI) is a leading developer and service provider of wireless camera, audio and communication systems and has partnered with Editec to develop an RF link solution for the I-MOVIX high speed video camera. This engineering achievement from BSI means that the high speed I-MOVIX equipment can be used without cables, and directors can place it anywhere there is RF coverage at an event."

"The integration work carried out by BSI was excellent," he continued. "Tony Valentino and his team produced a very neat back pack solution, the backpack containing all of the RF equipment and one of two batteries, the I-Movix interface module being camera mounted together with the second battery. The result is a true dual output hand-held camera will full camera controls – just as it would be with a SMPTE fibre connection."

Tony Valentino, Technical Sales Director of BSI, added: "Our wireless implementation of the I_MOVIX system retains the camera's full capability with full camera control and remote replay functionality. At the heart of this new wireless system is BSI’s own dual stream mini transmitter which provides the RF links for the live and playback video streams while a separate data receiver provides the link for the remote control features."

This latest addition enables Editec to offer its clients the entire range of I-MOVIX products.

Steve Cotterill will be present on the I-MOVIX stand 11 E43 at IBC 201C, at the RAI in Amsterdam, September 11-15.
