Nexstar Adopts TVU Solutions

News Image
Nexstar Broadcasting Group has signed a deal to deploy TVUPack IP newsgathering solutions and TVU Grid IP video switching, routing and distribution solutions.

With 105 television stations and 34 related digital multicast signals serving 56 markets across the United States, Nexstar stations reach approximately 15.6% of U.S. television households. Nexstar will now adopt TVUPack TM8200 mobile IP video transmitters to distribute and share live IP video streams across the group.

"Nexstar is committed to providing innovative technology solutions that help our stations serve the local communities where they operate. As our stations embrace the move to IP video, TVU will be a valued technology partner giving our stations a local competitive edge. With TVU, our stations are better equipped to not only capture more live shots from on location, but to also share and distribute live video streams across the group," said Blake Russell, Senior Vice President, Station Operations, Nexstar Broadcasting Group.

"Nexstar is one of the largest and most respected broadcast organizations in the world, and we are thrilled to be one of their primary technology partners," said Paul Shen, CEO, TVU Networks. "Together we are creating new solutions and new processes that will help Nexstar make the next big transition in the broadcast world; from SDI-centric to IP-centric. We believe that this transition will be just as important as the previous transition from analog to digital, and we look forward to working closely with Nexstar stations to help enable them to leverage the power of IP to reach their broadcast goals."

With its simple one-button operation and ability to simultaneously transmit over multiple combinations of cellular, WIFI, microwave, and BGAN, Ka-band and Ku-band satellite links, TVUPack enables broadcasters to deliver live streaming video from practically any location.

TVU Grid is a powerful IP video solution that enables TV stations to manage, route, switch and distribute live video content through both public and private Internet connections.
