Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez to speak at displayLA

displayLA have announced that director Robert Rodriguez ('Spy Kids', 'Desperado', From Dusk Til Dawn') will present selected scenes from his upcoming movie 'Once Upon A Time In Mexico' at a special screening event on Thursday, July 17 at the Cary Grant Theater, located at Sony Pictures Studios.
The film, which was produced using 1080/24P Sony CineAlta equipment, will be part of a special evening event, sponsored by Sony Electronics and Texas Instruments. Rodriguez will screen scenes from the film -- projected using Texas Instruments' new 2K projector - and discuss their production with the audience. The third installment of Rodriguez's acclaimed El Mariachi series, 'Once Upon a Time in Mexico' stars Antonio Banderas, Johnny Depp, Willem Dafoe and Salma Hayek. The film, which Rodriguez directed, wrote, photographed and edited, will be released by Sony Pictures Entertainment in September.
"Robert Rodriguez emerged onto the Hollywood scene in 1992 as one of the most daring and innovative independent filmmakers with his film El Mariachi." said HPA President Leon Silverman. "His most recent body of work including 'Spy Kids' and 'Once Upon a Time in Mexico' point the way to a future of filmmaking where the creative image is dominant. "
displayLA is two-day event featuring the latest monitor/projector technologies -- including LCD, LED, plasma, DLP, digital cinema and HD -- plus discussions and demonstrations of the latest advancements in screening room design, on-location video, digital dailies and even advanced home theatre presentations. In addition to the technology conference directed and developed by HPA, the showcase will also provide technology demonstrations by leading manufacturers in adjacent demo rooms and exhibition suites.
To date, exhibitors include Sony, Panasonic, Texas Instruments, JVC, NEC, Electrograph, Opticomm, QuVis, Wacom and Dynascan.
