Xscape Leisure gets multimedia advertising 'edje'

Imagine Graphics, based in St. Albans, have supplied outdoor digital broadcast specialists and sales house, New Media Concepts (NMC) with several Adtec edje MPEG digital video player and network content delivery systems.
NMC has deployed the edje to offer a multimedia solution to the Milton Keynes ‘Xscape’ leisure complex that allows a flexible, sophisticated and dynamic content delivery system to the 31 metre LED screen on the exterior of the complex and the 20 plasma displays inside.
The 550,000 square foot complex houses the biggest real snow indoor ski slope in Europe as well as a 16 screen climbing wall, nightclubs restaurants and lifestyle and fashion shopping.
The edje controls and manages the playing of MPEG-2, broadcast quality encoded video and audio programs in retail, entertainment, leisure, marketing and multimedia applications.
With the edje's ability to split content amongst separate displays and to be programmed and scheduled remotely means that NMC are able to create an advert for their clients and feed the content onto specified displays in less than half an hour.
This bespoke advertising option has attracted big name advertisers from Sainsbury’s to MacDonalds.
Norman Garland, MD of Imagine Graphics, said: “While we have been very successful with our ReelTime multi-channel digital video server systems during the last three years, we have missed opportunities that need a single channel, low cost and easy to set up and use solution. That need has been fulfilled by the edje."
With the rapidly increasing use of digital media in applications, the edje can be easily fixed to the back of a plasma display panel. The only cables needed are power and network connections to the edje and video to the plasma. Powered from a single 12V source, the edje is also suitable for mobile applications.
Holding up to 20 hours of video and audio content, which can be remotely changed, updated and controlled, the edje functions as a network appliance with content delivered through a Content Delivery Network (CDN) or a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
Specialists in computer display technology and digital video systems, Imagine Graphics was established in 1992 to provide top of the range computer display technology and digital video systems.
