US Telcos embrace APT technology

Codec manufacturer APT and Pulse Communications (Pulsecom) have now delivered over 150 PCAU (Programme Channel Access Units) to customers in the US.
One order alone was for 80 units, indicating the extent to which PCAU technology has been accepted by the US telecommunications industry.
PCAU was jointly developed by APT and Pulse Communications (Pulsecom), who also market the product in the US. The high quality Channel Audio Card represents a major breakthrough in high bandwidth public network audio transport, as it frees operating companies from the 'manual workarounds' and 'special assemblies' that have previously prevented them from selling Broadband Audio alongside Broadband Data.
David Corp, Director of Marketing at Pulsecom, said: "As a company, we have long been interested in adding a high quality channel audio card to our inventory but we lacked specialist knowledge of best-in-class compression algorithms and for broadcast and distance learning applications. This is precisely the expertise that APT brought to the joint venture and the synergy between the two companies is now setting new standards for program channel audio performance."
