DGP create 150th Video on Demand film for Warner Bros

DGP Digital Ltd, a division of Day Gardner Post Production Ltd (DGP), have announced that it has completed encoding on its 150th film for Warner Bros’ Video On Demand (VOD) catalogue.
DGP is currently outputting Warner Bros titles, including the Oscar-winning 'Training Day' and 'Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone', at an average of four multi-language titles per day for the European VOD market. But this number is set to rise as Warner Bros anticipates a substantial growth in the server based market.
Julian Day, Director at DGP Digital, said: "Outlets requesting VOD services currently include hotel chains and cruise ships. However, domestic demand in the US is growing rapidly, and it is likely that Europe will follow in the near future."
DGP has also started to create one-off vanilla DVDs for organisations lacking the server-based technology needed to provide VOD services, such as oil-rigs, film clubs and private hospitals.
DGP’s existing experience of DVD encoding and authoring, together with knowledge gained through their affiliation with California Video Center – a division of Time Warner Entertainment Company – enables DGP to work closely with Warner Bros to maintain VOD quality standards and deliver VOD solutions.
There are no global standards for VOD files so DGP can create encodes to fit various specifications for the global market.
DGP is a digital post-production and new media facility based in Soho, London. Established in 1995 the company offers Avid offline and online editing suites, Discreet compositing and finishing (SMOKE and FLINT), as well as DVD design, compression and authoring, Video on Demand encoding and multimedia.
The company has grown rapidly and now occupies 6000sqft and employs over 30 people, turning over in excess of £2.5 million per annum.
