Pinnacle Systems launch Edition 5

Pinnacle Systems has today announced the UK launch of Edition 5, the latest version of its mid-range video editing and DVD-authoring software.
This latest Pinnacle Edition harnesses the processing power of your computer's central and graphics processor units (CPU and GPU) to offer hundreds of striking real-time transitions and filters without the need for specialist accelerator hardware.
Key new features in Pinnacle Edition 5 streamline the editing workflow and help content producers create compelling professional-grade video faster and more efficiently than ever before. The new real-time accelerated graphics processor (AGP)-based 2D and 3D video effects dramatically improves productivity by allowing editors to process more video, graphic layers and effects in realtime.
Editors can also author DVD right from the editing timeline, eliminating the time-consuming process of exporting and importing files to a separate authoring application.
“Pinnacle Edition version 5 is the next generation of Edition software that brings an all-new real-time effects engine and integrated DVD authoring to an already feature-rich editing application,” said Pinnacle Northern European Regional Manager Dave Askew.
“It takes a superior editing platform to new heights. Now with real-time effects and DVD authoring integrated directly into the timeline, Pinnacle Edition version 5 sets a new benchmark in productivity and a new standard in video publishing. It is the first video editing software application that natively supports 3D acceleration and is a complete major breakthrough for the professional video editing and graphics industry.
"By harnessing the power of your graphics card and your PC’s processor power, Pinnacle Edition version 5 delivers amazing real-time FX, without the need for specialist accelerator hardware," he said.
The Pinnacle Edition product family supports Windows 2000 and Windows XP Home and Professional. It will be available at the end of April with prices of £499 for the Edition and £629 for Edition Pro, including VAT.
Pinnacle Systems’ broadcast, professional, business and consumer products provide cutting-edge digital video tools to create, store, distribute and view web enabled digital video more easily and more affordably than ever before.
It has received many prestigious industry awards, including a Silicon Valley Fast 50 award for growth. Headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, Pinnacle Systems has a global network of support and service centres.
