INFO-TV-OPERATOR Deploys Harris DVB-T2 Transmitters In Poland

INFO-TV-OPERATOR, an independent Polish telecommunications company, is installing a national network of Harris DVB-T2-ready Maxiva™ UAX television transmitters to support a new DVB-T network for mobile applications.
The Harris DVB-T transmission network comprises 21 locations across the country to support the first subscription digital terrestrial television (DTT) service from Polish broadcaster - the Polsat Group. The service launch coincided with the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship (Euro 2012) this June and July.
The nationwide transmission network stretches across Poland from Słupsk to Rzeszów and Lublin to Poznań, with 43 Harris Maxiva UAX air-cooled UHF solid-state transmitters ranging in power from 500W to 2kW. Harris’ Apex M2X™ multimedia exciter technology and energy-efficient PowerSmart® technology will also enable INFO-TV-OPERATOR to support DVB-T2 terrestrial transmissions and take advantage of the standard’s increased spectrum capacity and operational efficiency.
“This project is complex due to tight deployment deadlines as our client needed everything to be ready for the start of the Euro 2012 championship, which took place in both Poland and the Ukraine,” said Jerzy Cegliński, Vice-President at INFO-TV-OPERATOR.
In 2009, Polish broadcast regulator UKE awarded a DVB-H mobile TV license to Info-TV-FM, now part of Polsat Group. Having supported the company through this project, Harris was seen as the natural technology partner to support INFO-TV-OPERATOR.
“Three years ago, INFO-TV-OPERATOR worked with Harris to deploy a network of 30 Harris transmitters, which have performed so reliably that the customer turned to us once more to deliver state-of-the-art technology again” said Philip T. Argyris, vice president and general manager, transmission systems, Harris Broadcast Communications. “This is another strategic win for Harris transmitters in Europe: one that demonstrates yet again the strength of the Harris transmitter product portfolio.”
