C4 Poach CBBC Controller
Channel 4 has turned to CBBC controller Damian Kavanagh to be its new head of features and factual formats responsible for Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and shows starring Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay and Mary Portas.
Kavanagh has overseen all programmes and multiplatform commissioning for the CBBC channel as well as children's output on BBC1 and BBC2.
At Channel 4, he will oversee all programming across factual entertainment, features and daytime. Head of factual entertainment, Liam Humphreys, deputy dead of features, Andrew Jackson, and head of formats, Dominic Bird, will all report directly into him, and Damian will report directly into chief creative officer Jay Hunt.
"Damian has a great track record creatively and is an inspiring leader," said Hunt.
"He also has a knack for being able to translate great audience insight into unmissable shows and this makes him an invaluable addition to an already strong team."
