Screen Announces Virtual Polistream for
 Partners Programme

Screen Subtitling Systems has announced the launch of a virtual machine version of its Polistream Black system at IBC.
Commenting on the development, John Birch, Screen's Strategic Partnerships Manager said: "We've noticed over the last few years that the broadcast market is changing and that the demand for smaller, more integrated solutions is rapidly increasing.


"Making our Polistream subtitle transmission system available for embedding in play-out and branding solutions will open up new and different opportunities for our partners."


Polistream is one of the most widely used subtitle transmission systems in the world and Screen has had considerable success working alongside traditional play-out systems.


John Birch commented that Screen has worked hard to keep the integration of the virtual Polistream software simple resulting in only the minimum of development for each system.
He commented: 

"The new virtual Polistream system includes a new technology, called the 'Open Graphics Protocol', that simplifies the transfer of burnt in (a.k.a. 'open') subtitles into the branding engine of the host system, in addition to supporting DVB Bitmap and DVB Teletext subtitle outputs."
He added: "Screen and Polistream are brands that are globally synonymous with high quality subtitling and are respected world-wide; this is an exciting new direction for Screen that allows partners to offer, not just subtitling transmission within their solution, but a subtitling solution which is driven by Screen."


Screen have already received their first Virtual Polistream signatory at IBC.
