Sky Chooses Pixel Power For Its Ground-Breaking Sky Studios Building

A supplier of broadcast graphics systems has announced the sale of 20 LogoVision Clips units to Sky, which are being deployed in the broadcaster's Sky Studios state-of-the-art, sustainable broadcasting facility.
Sky, a long-term customer that already deploys Pixel Power technology, has also purchased Pixel Power’s Control Toolbox. Toolbox enables highly customised user interfaces to be created that control the play-out of graphics from the LogoVisions, particularly useful for live transmissions.
Pixel Power's LogoVision units have been selected and installed as a key technology to provide additional and enhanced red button services for Sky Sports interactive, including its Football First and Match Choice offerings which cover the Barclays Premier League – and onscreen statistics that enhance a wide variety of sports events, giving the audience a more immersive viewing experience. These multiple channels of interactive sports content each require several forms of branding as well as elegant and easy-to-use interactive onscreen menus, which are provided by the LogoVision units.
LogoVision is a family of branding and graphics play-out devices designed for 24/7 operation in a transmission environment. Sky already utilises multiple units of each version: LogoVision, LogoVision Clips and LogoVision 3D as they are easily deployed for single or multi-channel environments and support both standard and high definition video formats.
The new Sky Studios building sets an international benchmark for sustainable architecture in the world of broadcasting. The new facilities contain eight studios in total with five operating at launch, 45 edit suites, multiple voiceover and post-production rooms with overall capacity for nearly 1,400 staff.
James Gilbert, Joint Managing Director, Pixel Power, said: "Sky is globally renowned for its sports coverage and the further development of its interactive offering is great news for sports fans. We are very pleased to extend our relationship with Sky as the broadcaster continues to push the boundaries in creating an engaging viewer experience."
Pixel Power will be based at stand no. 7.A31 at IBC, Amsterdam.
