Huge Demand For RTÉ's Obama Coverage

There was an extraordinary high level of demand for coverage of the historic visit of US President Barack Obama to Ireland across RTÉ's digital platforms last week.
Some 7.6 million page impressions were recorded across all services with 2.5 million related to the Obama visit.
An all day tracker which provided up-to-the-minute coverage of the event from the moment the American President and his wife, Michelle Obama, disembarked from Air Force One at Dublin Airport that morning, delivered 451,000 page impressions.
Live and on demand video footage on RTÉ.ie, RTÉ News Now and RTÉ Player was accessed from over 163 countries, with the number of concurrent connections to the live video streams peaking at 43,055 as President Obama enjoyed a pint in Ollie Hayes' Bar in his ancestral home of Moneygall.
In total there were 415,574 requests for the RTÉ News Now service across the day.
RTÉ's social media channels were also very active during the visit. On Facebook 62 Obama related posts prompted 287 posts and 997 likes. On Twitter 63 tweets were retweeted 194 times. And on the RTÉ You Tube channel 9 clips were viewed a massive 700,000 times.
