Packet Ship Launches Latest Software Component Set For Video-on-Demand Catch-up TV

Packet Ship, a leading provider of software technologies for video-based services and solutions, will use the IP&TV World Forum exhibition in London to launch the latest release of the company's platform of software components, including a new video server platform, catch-up TV recorder, asset management and content distribution infrastructure.
The new 'Antigua' release of the well-established Packet Ship Streamline video server offers higher performance on commodity hardware and now supports Over the Top (OTT) streaming protocols for the public internet, such as RTSP/TCP and Apple's HTTP Live Streaming for iPhones and iPads, as well as the traditional RTSP/UDP streaming used in managed networks.
The company is also announcing a new product, Timeline IPTV recorder, which provides continuous recording of broadcast IPTV channels and associated EPG data, enabling new services such as catch-up TV, retrospective peg and pause/rewind of live TV, fully integrated with the Streamline video server.
Paul Clark, CEO of Packet Ship, said: "Our latest set of software components will make it even easier for our OEM, systems integrator and service operator partners to bring world-beating products and services to market quickly and with a minimum of risk."
Packet Ship specialises in licensing Linux-based software components for video applications to OEM hardware manufacturers, vertical market systems integrators and service operators to integrate into their own solutions and services. The company supplies many of the European market leaders in IPTV, hospitality and healthcare.
Packet Ship is exhibiting at Stand 109 at the IP&TV World Forum at Olympia, London, March 22-24 2011, where the company will be demonstrating full multi-scree VoD and catch-up TV services delivered to set-top box, iPad and PC.
