Videohouse Scales OmniBus Systems iTX Installation Up For New Telenet Service

Leading Belgian facilities company Videohouse has expanded its OmniBus Systems iTX automation and playout platform to 39 channels to provide the facilities for hosting Telenet Digital TV channels to cable viewers in Flanders.
Videohouse went live on August 19 with 14 Telenet SD and two HD channels, including the live sports channel Prime Sport 1 HD.
Videohouse has used the iTX platform since 2007 to host channels for VITAYA, a lifestyle-themed channel, and the new expanded installation is configured for 16 + 16 redundant channels, with two preview channels. The iTX system provides full automation and playout, graphic logos and CG content, with up and down-conversion of SD/HD channels and WSS signalling.
Telenet content is delivered to the iTX system at Videohouse mostly in file-based form, but for live sports coverage, iTX ingests the live HD content and plays it out with a short time delay while continuing to record the feed.
Dirk Theunis, Technical and Operations Manager for Videohouse, said: "Our experience with iTX over the past few years proves that it offers an outstanding combination of features, cost-effectiveness and easy integration into our existing systems. iTX gave is the ability to put together a very competitive and full-featured service that includes a live reactive channel, as well as streamlined handling to content duplication for delivery to SD and HD viewers."
iTX is a next-generation software-based broadcast production and transmission solution that uses standard IT hardware and advanced software technology to provide all the functionality of a traditional broadcast playout chain integrated into a file-based environment and equally capable of linear broadcasting, IPTV streaming and video-on-demand content generation.
Building on OmniBus Systems' experience as a leading provider of high-end automation, ingest, editing, content management and playout solutions, the system uses a single unified software application to provide sophisticated video server and master controller functions, with powerful built-in graphics, character generation and logo insertion tools.
Laura Kirkland, Strategic Account Manager, OmniBus Systems, said: "Videohouse was an early adopter of iTX in Europe and we are very pleased that the platform has proved so successful for the company that it is transferring channels to iTX from legacy systems."
