Bluebell Opticom Launches the TDM700

Bluebell Opticom has launched the new TDM700 system at IBC 2010.
The TDM700 is designed to provide a rugged and cost effective optical link between a remote "POV" (Point of View) Camera and an OB van or control room.
The link provides an HD-SDI feed from the camera with a reverse composite video feed for gunlock or monitoring. Bi-directional RS232 and RS422 data allow full control of the POV.
A 10/100 BaseT Ethernet link is provided to allow control of IP based devices while a GPI path can be used to drive a tally light. The camera end is housed in a robust aluminium enclosure for field and OB use. Power is provided via a 4 pin XLR allowing the use of standard battery packs.
Also making its debut at IBC was the 4 channel AES 3G-SDI embedder, the BC45OT. The unit accepts 4 AES inputs and provides an embedded 3G-SDI signal in both a singlemode optical and coaxial connector. The complimentary BC45OR converts the optical signal presented into a 3G-SDI signal while de-embedding the audio and providing 4 channels of AES/EBU.
The BC460 devices provide embedding and de-embedding for eight channels of analogue audio.
Bluebell Opticom also showcased the Quad 3G-SDI BlueBox and the BC170 Modular 1RU Media Converter. The BlueBox Quad 3G-SDI is a 4 channel multiplexer/demultiplexer system that makes 3G-SDI to fibre conversion over standard fibre optic cable possible.
The BlueBox 3G provides a compact and rugged conversion unit which allows the outputs from up to four cameras to be transmitted over a single standard SMPTE Hybrid or military tactical cable. Applications have already been found in many Outside Broadcast vehicles, special event companies and in pre-fibred venues, particularly with the advent of 3D and the move to a 3G infrastructure.
The 4 channel configuration allows two separate 3D camera rigs to be transported over one cable link. Several systems were recently deployed in South africa for coverage of the football World Cup.
The system is available in different configurations all operating over a single SMPTE Hybrid or tactical cable link. It can be supplied with customer specific connectors, Neutrik OpticalCON, Lemo 3K Series and standard SC/PC connectors for example.
The BC170 is designed as an ultra compact 19" rack-mount media converter for the conversion of up to 30 independent 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, SD-SDI and ASI signals into fibre optical cable in 1RU. At only 15cm deep, the BC170 fits applications where space is at a premium but no compromises on performance can be accepted.
The unit is intended for: studios where wall mounting and fan-less option ensures silent operation on the Studio Floor; Integration with existing routing infrastructure to provide multiple fibre I/O; low cost high density distribution.
