The Mill create LEAF Awards idents

At this year’s London Effects and Animation Festival leading visual effects house The Mill is to give a detailed presentation on its stunning effects for Ridley Scott’s epic ‘Black Hawk Down.’
The Mill has also created animation idents for the prestigious LEAF Awards to be held on October 9 at London’s Olympia exhibition centre.
"We are very excited to be involved with this year's LEAF," says The Mill's 3D Operations Manager Stephen Venning. "The festival continues to successfully bring some of the most talented individuals within the effects and animation community together."
Mill Film 3D operator Gabriel White is to reveal skills and techniques used in creating digital visual effects for this Ridley Scott war epic. The film is a factual account of the story of 100 elite American soldiers and their desperate battle with a large force of heavily armed Somalis. Extensive visual effects were required, including the creation of a CG stadium, a major crash using entirely CG helicopters, and ‘moving’ a US airbase to a beach location. White worked on modelling, lighting and texturing for ‘Black Hawk Down’ and his previous credits include ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’, ‘Cats And Dogs’ and ‘Band of Brothers.’
