'Future Of Film' Production Hits Scotland

Newcastle-based camera crew, STEADI-RED - one of only a handful of companies in the UK to have the revolutionary RED ONE digital cinema camera - is branching out into Scotland.
STEADI-RED is a brand new concept; a portable camera division in an 'A-Team' style van that provides consultation and revolutionary camera equipment.
Red digital cinema equipment specialist STEADI-RED has taken its cameras on the road, and are now available for hire to Scottish-based film and production companies for feature films, commercials and music videos.
Directors James McAleer and Rich Scott, who collectively have over two decades experience, have recently invested in the revolutionary RED ONE digital cinema camera - one of only 20 in the country. This streamlined camera offers ultra high definition images, flexibility, quality and reliability, designed to maximise shooting options.
James said: "We have decided to take the business into Scotland to capture the growing market and to respond to the increase in demand for high quality cinematic equipment. We found that more and more ad agencies in Scotland were contacting us for our services and as such decided to expand north of the border. We will now split out time between Scotland and England.
"Other owners of the RED ONE include Oscar-winning Director Steven Soderbergh, who used it to shoot the Che Guevara biopics, and Peter Jackson, Director of the Lord of the Rings, who actually has four of them.
"The fact that this camera has become the tool of choice for many of Hollywood's top cinematographers is testament to the fact that this camera is set to change the industry."
STEADI-RED will rent out its full 'gear list', which includes the Red One 4K Digital Cinema camera package, lighting, lenses, monitors, a steadicam and crane package plus give training and workflow support to ad agencies making documentaries, commercials and films.
The company has already dipped its toes in Scottish waters by working alongside Glasgow-based Cask Productions on a commercial for Sterling Furniture and critically-acclaimed Glaswegian Director of Photography Paul Herley on several projects.
Paul Herley said: "Having the expertise of the STEADI-RED team on set allows me to concentrate on getting the best from my images. We were able to perform a first light colour grade on set to show the client the results instantly.
"Clients love the immediacy and involvement of the process and I have the peace of mind and knowledge that I can see exactly what I'm exposing instantly. The RED runs like clockwork, and I always feel comfortable in the knowledge that should there be any issues, then the STEADI-RED team would know exactly how to resolve the problem, without costly delays."
