Icon Films Delivers Third Helping Of Weird Creatures

Production company Icon Films has been commissioned to produe a third series of Weird Creatures with Nick Baker for Animal Planet International and the Science Channel.
The wildlife documentary series follows presenter and naturalist Nick Baker as he travels to some of the most remote and inhospitable corners of the earth to find some of the world's strangest and most intriguing creatures.
Assisted by leading scientists and local experts, Nick goes in his search of the world's most weird and wonderful animals from the Slow Loris, the world's only poisonous primate, to the bizarre two-legged Worm Lizard - part snake, part lizard, part mole. He learns the importance of these bizarre animals' evolution as well as identifying the problems they face in the battle for their survival.
This third instalment of Weird Creatures with Nick Baker follows the success of the previous two series which were commissioned by FIVE, Animal Planet International and ITV Global Entertainment.
Harry Marshall, CEO of Icon Films, said: "This is incredible television, offering audiences a glimpse of nature they would never otherwise get to see. We are confident this series will follow in the footsteps of our last commission for Animal Planet US, River Monsters, which achieved the highest ratings in the channel's history earlier this year."
Dan Korn of Discovery UK said: "We're delighted to have Nick Baker back in a new series of Weird Creatures, which is not only a very well made series but which also stands out as a natural history format with a dynamic and highly original twist."
Debbie Myers, General Manager of Science Channel US, said: "Weird Creatures is a unique window into a fascinating world largely unseen and unknown to viewers. Science Channel is excited to provide a series to the US audience that truly brings the science of biology to life."
