ATV Jordan chooses BTS Enterprise Broadcast Systems

ATV Jordan, has joined the increasing number of broadcasters using the Broadcast Traffic Systems (BTS) Enterprise scheduling and sales management system. Commencing operation this month at the network's Amman headquarters, BTS Enterprise will be used to manage the playout of programmes as well as ensuring precise placement and transmission of advertisements and programme-related interstitials.
BTS Enterprise was installed by BTS using its Internet-based installation process. Replacing an earlier scheduling device from a third-party source, Enterprise is both easier to operate and provides a wider range of features including tight integration with the technical infrastructure at ATV Jordan.
"We had seen BTS Enterprise in operation and were greatly impressed by its browser-based user interface, its ease of use and its ability to function seamlessly with our Pebble Beach automation system," commented ATV Jordan's Director of Engineering Hussein Saraireh. "The advanced automation gateway in Enterprise automatically keeps the traffic database synchronised with the automation. Enterprise ensures that our schedulers have accurate timing information of items to be broadcast. Schedulers can also use their desktop PC browsers to view clips from the scheduling screens."
"Enterprise is a modular system offering all the features needed to manage traffic scheduling and advertising sales," added Craig Buckland, Technical Director at BTS. "Running on an open platform, it is configurable to match any size of broadcast operation and provides multi-channel transmission as well as multi-currency transactions. User-maintained libraries of commercials and promotions are employed to create frame-accurate transmission schedules. Enterprise also includes comprehensive asset-management routines such as programme amortisation updated automatically from as-run logs. Control of media movement is achieved through the use of integrated bar-code printing and reading. Media can also be linked to playout equipment to control the ingest process."
The sales routines available in BTS Enterprise cover the sales process from proposals to the production of sales invoices. Integration with schedules allows invoices to be based on accurate as-run logs.
Sales contracts can cover multiple products with each product line made up of multiple items for different channels, days or day-parts. Advanced sales routines support more targeted spot placement allowing use of selected programmes, genres or audience ratings.
As a result, the system can be used to achieve contract formats tailored to individual customer requirements.
A flexible rate-card structure allows pricing to be set at day-part, programme or contract level. Spot placement can be performed on a selective basis, enabling the user to select individual breaks. Alternatively, multiple spots can be positioned in a single operation using an auto-placement routine. Enterprise continually checks individual product line and contract targets.
Owned and operated by Jordan United TV Broadcasting, ATV Jordan was founded by Jordanian media investor Mohamad Alayyan. The country's first independent channel, it commenced regular transmission in July 2007 with a mixture of Jordanian news plus films, cultural programmes, entertainment and sport. Transmissions are direct-to-home via Nilesat 102.
BTS specialises in the development and provision of traffic management software for the broadcast industry. Applications are developed using Web Services technology allowing software delivery and support using standard browser interfaces, scalable for single and multi-channel operations. Using standard technology, BTS can offer high quality solutions at cost-effective prices.
BTS has extensive experience in broadcasting that enables the company to produce solutions that cover all key areas including programme asset management, scheduling, media management, traffic and advertising sales. BTS has clients throughout the world including major customers such as MTV, Al Jazeera and CNBC.
