IBC auditorium transformed to D-Cinema theatre

This year at IBC, the 1700-seat RAI auditorium will be transformed into a surround sound D-Cinema theatre, demonstrating how various companies are now working together to provide viable solutions for digital projection.
The experience will involve cutting-edge systems from companies such as Christie, Cintel, Discreet, Dolby, DTS, France Telecom, Harkness Hall, JBL, JVC, Panasonic, QSC, QuVIS and Sony.
Demonstrations will be available to see the quality of film to HD transfers, digital intermediates, up-linked and down-linked to Satellite images, all from a variety of source material including feature films, commercials and music videos.
On Saturday 14th September from 9am to 6pm QuVIS, France Telecom, Discreet, Christie and DPS will provide a series of presentations demonstrating all aspects of digital cinema throughout the production and distribution chain. QuVIS, manufacturer of QuBit, the digital cinema server chosen to play content for this event, leads the digital motion imaging field with servers that replace film and enhance video, guaranteeing image quality for digital cinema, broadcast, themed entertainment and post production environments.
On Sunday September 15 and Monday September 16 from 9am to 6pm at the JVC Showcase the QX-1 projection system based on JVCs D-ILA technology and offering QXGA resolution, which at 2048 x 1536 is more than capable of showing HD of 1920 x 1080, will be on show.
JVC is co-operating with various partners to bring a total high definition experience to many varied and different types of visual material. The presentation will comprise of a rolling demonstration showing a rich mixture of programming sources. JVC will work with partners such as QuVIS, Cintel, HD Thames, France Telecom, Panasonic and Sony, to demonstrate how different types of source material can look when presented in a large screen environment. JVC will be showing material originated from both electronic and film sources as well as computer-generated graphics and up converted standard definition.
In preparation for the JVC Showcase, QuBit was used to upload the digitally mastered content to a file server where it was then uploaded to a satellite and multicast to several locations for the purpose of presentation and archival purposes.
QuBit will also be employed in the JVC Professional Stand 8.181 during the IBC Exhibition. IBC 2002, www.ibc.org
