Electric Sky Extends Catalogue With High Definition And Factual Entertainment Titles

UK factual distributor Electric Sky has signed a deal to distribute a package of seven new documentaries produced for National Geographic Channel US including ‘Inside Saddam’s Reign of Terror’ (1 x 60’) by Tower Productions, ‘Speedology’ (3 x 60’) by Big Fish Entertainment and ‘Inside the LA Sewer’ (1 x 60’) by Powderhouse. All available in High Definition, other titles so far in production include further programming on middle-eastern history, popular culture and science.
Also taken on from Powderhouse, ‘Raising Cain’ (2 x 60’) is powerful two-part documentary that explores the lives and emotional development of young boys in America. Presenter psychologist Michael Thompson, PhD, is one of America’s leading experts on boys whose book ‘Raising Cain’ with co-author Dan Kindlon, was a New York Times bestseller.
UK Indie Walsh Brothers have turned to Electric Sky to distribute two of their Channel 4 commissioned youth series. ‘Don’t Make Me Angry’ (8 x 30’) follows psychologist Dr Rachel Andrew as she attempts to calm the nation’s angry teenagers and ‘TREX’ (26 x 30’) is a travel adventure series which puts four teenagers through their paces in foreign climbs. Format rights are available for both series.
A number of titles have been acquired for pre-selling that are currently in production. These include German producer Context TV’s ‘Wildlife Nannies’ (18 x 30’) commissioned by ZDF and Voom and filmed in HD, this series follows cute and cuddly baby animals and the keepers that devote their lives to looking after them. ‘The Turf’ (8 x 30’) by the same producers as ‘Queer Eye For The Straight Guy’ Scout is a docu-soap series that follows American football team for one season as they battle their way to the National Championship - and through life in the most violent corner of Boston. Also in production, Centre Stage Production’s High Definition ‘Gear’ (13 x 30’) is an intriguing series exploring the coolest boys’ toys.
Recent finished programme acquisitions are High Definition luxury travel series ‘Caribbean Escapes’ (13 x 30’) also by Centre Stage Productions; ‘Tease: The Art & Heart of Burlesque’ (1 x 60’) by Paneikon – Katell, which Features interviews with Dita Von Teese amongst other burlesque dancers; Finally ‘Nepal: Journey’s To The Roof Of the World’ (1 x 42’) by 73 Media Productions travels to the extraordinary landscape of Nepal and reveals how this mountain kingdom is a great destination for travellers after the political turmoil of recent times.
