SKY Italia upgrade digital TV Platforms with Scopus

Scopus Network Technologies have been selected to upgrade digital broadcasting platforms for SKY Italia, owned by media group News Corporation and Telecom Italia.
Scopus is equipping SKY Italia with digital broadcast head-end systems and project integration, based on its CODICO product line. These systems enhance SKY Italia’s abilities to offer more diverse programming while concurrently increasing the usabililty and control over their network. The upgraded head-ends are to be located in Rome and Milan and will be able to transmit multiple channels of high quality digital content, direct-to-home, throughout Italy.
The platforms comprise E-1000 broadcast encoders, RTM-3800 DVB multiplexers, statistical re-multiplexers for content distribution, IRD-2600 professional receivers for monitoring and a state-of-the-art, user friendly Network Management System based on Scopus’ CODICO NMS-4000. SKY Italia’s upgraded platforms are scheduled to go on-air this summer.
