Tannoy Update Outdoor 'Rock' Loudspeaker

Pioneering loudspeaker manufacturer Tannoy has announced the launch of a new, updated version of its SR601 'singing rock'.
The new SR601T comes with an integral transformer and anchor points for safe and secure location of the unit. It's also now available in a choice of three textural colour finishes - previously only available in a camouflage green - but now with sandstone and slate grey as options.
The SR601T is perfectly suited for large scale outdoor distributed audio systems where an uncompromising balance of both sound quality and discreet aesthetics are required - such as in theme parks, civic garden, garden festivals, licensed/beer gardens, hotel outdoor spaces and water parks.
The TANNOY SR601T is a high power handling, high sensitivity, full bandwidth rock speaker design primarily for outdoor use. The rugged and durable terra alba and fibreglass enclosure is weather, water marking and UV discolouration resistant to IP64 specification. This, together with the integrated grille design, provides protection for the 153mm (6.00") Tannoy ICT transducer from the elements, including rain, hail, sleet, snow and high salt content atmospheres.
Now available in three colours - Grey, Green and Sand - the natural rock-like appearance of the SR601T blends inconspicuously into most outdoor applications including gardens, patios and architectural landscapes. To allow for multiple units to be installed in a distributed system, such as in theme parks, large civic gardens etc., the SR601T has an integral low insertion loss 30W line transformer with an easily accessible rotary tapping switch to select between low impedance and 70V or 100V operation.
Anchor points are also integrated into the design to allow for secure installation, even or uneven or inclined surfaces, or in areas subjected to high winds such as coastal locations. Equipped with Tannoy's exclusive ICT point source, constant directivity drive unit, the SR601T delivers an acoustic performance of outstanding clarity, definition and detail with class leading vocal intelligibility. The mid bass and tweeter sections of the driver are configured to a point source, ensuring a wide and controlled dispersion for optimum coverage of the listening area.
The ICT drive unit design also addresses the two most common component failures experienced in background music and sound reinforcement systems, the tweeter and the crossover reliability.
The use of a wireless electromagnetic tweeter means that no crossover is required in the design; this therefore ensures that an ICT unit cannot be burned out through system misuse or by constant heavy usage. The mineral loaded polypropylene cone material and nitrile rubber surround further enhance durability and long-term reliability.
