Jünger Audio's LEVEL MAGIC Technology Wins New Fans In The Middle East

Dynamics processing specialist Jünger Audio has made a number of significant sales in the Middle East, indicating that its unique LEVEL MAGIC technology for controlling the level and loudness of broadcast audio is providing broadcasters with a viable solution to an increasingly irritating problem.
Among those investing in LEVEL MAGIC are Al-Mehwar TV, Dream TV, The Rotana Group, Aamal TV, Al-Saeeda TV, the ERTU and OTV in Egypt; Showtime in the UAE; The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Radio in Iran; Al Jazeera TV Group in Qatar; Al Watan in Kuwait and Jordan Media City.
Tamer Berry, Chief Engineer at Al-Saeeda TV - Nilesat said: "The main problem we were addressing was balancing out the audio level of the transmitted material. The fact that the Jünger Audio b46 units we chose incorporate an audio processor helped us solve this issue in a very effective way."
His order, along with all of the other Egyptian sales, were handled by Jünger Audio's Egyptian distributor, Systems Design in Cairo.
Ahmed Gamal, Managing Director of Systems Design, said: "The majority of our television installations have featured the 4-channel Jünger Audio B46 unit, which has proved to be incredibly efficient at helping our customers control loudness and audio level."
Controlling the level and loudness of audio is vital for broadcasters if they want to ensure a pleasant listening environment for their viewers - and avoid them having to constantly adjust the volume at home.
Jünger Audio's LEVEL MAGIC system is a series of automated Level and Loudness control devices that rely on an adaptive level control algorithm, which is designed to adjust the level from any source at any time, with no pumping, breathing or distortion. It works by simultaneously combining an AGC, a Transient Processor for fast changes and a "look ahead" Peak Limiter for continuous unattended control of any programme material, regardless of its original source.
LEVEL MAGIC is available in a variety of configurations to suit different applications, but the unit that is proving popular with Middle Eastern television broadcasters is the b46 four-channel digital dynamics processor. This incorporates the LEVEL MAGIC adaptive level control algorithm, which is capable of using any kind of I/O (Analogue and Digital) sources, as well as SDI and HD/SDI.
Jünger Audio's b46 is easy to operate as users only have to input a small number of settings. Once these are in place, the LEVEL MAGIC system achieves optimum results by reviewing all other parameters necessary for inaudible processing and automatically controlling them in response to changes in the programme signal.
At OTV in Egypt, Senior Engineer Ahmed Samir Hamza, has installed Jünger Audio B46 units in the playour master control room and in studios 3 and 4.
He said: "I chose this solution on the basis of previous good experiences with the Jünger Audio products. The units are helping us to maintain the audio at a proper level and to recover the variable output from editing units. To date they have performed wonderfully and we are very happy with the results we are achieving."
Jünger Audio's LEVEL MAGIC technology is also appropriate for radio broadcasters because it offers a loudness control device that can even work in conjunction with multiband on-air processors that are traditionally good at colouring the sound but do not enable the broadcaster to achieve correct loudness consistency.
As an example, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Iran's national radio and TV broadcaster, is one of a growing number of radio broadcasters that have gone the LEVEL MAGIC route.
Farzad Pahlavani, Manager of Radio TX's monitoring and evaluation at IRIB Radio, said: "IRIB has used 30 Jünger Audio d06 2-channel audio processors with analogue and digital I/O at various radio TX sites around the country where they are being used to solve modulation problems."
