Oscar Nomination For 'This Way Up' Animated Comedy Caper From Nexus

Leading London animation studio, Nexus, has announced that Smith & Foulkes' internationally acclaimed animated short, 'This Way Up', has been nominated for an Oscar for best animated short at the 81st annual Academy Awards.
This comic tale follows the fateful journey of a father and son team of pallbearers, who end up joining the corpse they're transporting on its trip to the underworld.
Conceived and realised over a period of five months at the Nexus studio, the film was made in full HD, using the incredible talent of the Nexus in-house team of animators and designers. Support came from a collective of highly respected film bodies - BBC Film, BBC Comedy, BBC Film Network, ARCADI in France and Mike Judge's 'The Animation Show' in the US.
Paved with awards, the road to the Oscar nomination for 'This Way Up' has been far less bumpy than the one travelled by the hapless pair it features. Praise for the film has spanned the globe, with wins at festivals from the Palm Springs International Film Festival of Shorts to the London Film Fe
stival via Siggraph Asia and all stops along the way! Being nominated for this ultimate accolade confirms the place that Smith & Foulkes and Nexus have taken on the stage of world-class animation.
