Finish Post Work On 'House Of Saddam'

Finish Post have recently worked on the House of Saddam for Red Bee Media, creating a 40 second promo for BBC1's new four-part mini series.
'House of Saddam focuses on the lives of Saddam's closest family and an elite few and is an intimate portrait in to the world of his inner circle. Charting the rise and fall of one of the world's most terrifying regimes, the series takes place against the backdrop of the larger tragedy of the Iraqi people and draws out the story of the Middle East's relationship with the West.
Working from supplied publicity stills and a small fx shoot for elements, Finish'd brief was to bring the pictures to life and then visually show the destruction of the family which was done with the 'melting' techniques. 2D was used to morph between stills to add movement and create contra zooms on the family portraits. For the melting fx, a 3D head was textured with the available stills and using maya particles, Saddam's and his daughter's face were 'melted'.
Additional paint/liquid elements from the fx shoot were then composited in flame to complete the overall look.
Fi Kilroe, Producer at Finish, added: "As this was such a post orientated project it was vital that we could work closely with the directors and Red Bee Creatives, especially with the tight deadline and limited available footage of the cast. As the end product hopefully shows, this was a very successful and enjoyable collaboration for all."
