AGISAT Serves Italian Mobile Market With Panasonic P2

Italian satellite and ENG service provider AGISAT has installed tapeless Panasonic P2 technology to provide a mobile service for its roster of major international broadcast customers.
AGISAT will initially deploy two AB-HPX500E cameras, one AJ-HPM110E player/recorder, one AV-HS400E mixer and two BT-LH80WE monitors in its P2 mobile unit in news and sports productions for Mediaset, BBC and NHK.
Stefano Sestini, AGISAT's CEO, said: "We expect Panasonic's P2 to become the standard in this industry. Our broadcast customers are very happy for us to be using P2 for acquisition because of its deserved reputation for quality, and for us, it's fast and convenient to work with."
The AG-HPX500E camera features a 2/3-inch lens mount that accepts interchangeable lenses, HD/SD multi-format compatibility with 50/60-Hz selectability and a variable frame rate function with cine-like picture quality. Equipped with four P2 card slots, the AG-HPX500E allows extended HD recording time and delivers the high reliability, quick recording starts and IT benefits that distinguish P2 and revolutionise the recording and editing workflow.
Jaume Rey, Director of Panasonic's Professional and Broadcast IT Systems Business Unit (PBITS), said: "P2 technology offers particular benefits in mobile operations. AGISAT's productions with its major broadcast customers exemplify the widespread consensus that P2 is the outstanding format for production today."
