Channel One Russia Standardizes On Panasonic P2 Solutions For Tapeless Video Production

Panasonic PBITS recently announced that Channel One Russia, Russia’s largest broadcast station, is taking delivery of more than 50 AJ-SPX800 P2 camcorders and a dozen AJ-HPM100 P2HD mobile recorders.
These Panasonic P2 products will give Channel One Russia high signal quality and a convenient and reliable tapeless acquisition capability for its news production operations.
Channel One Russia committed to the purchase of Panasonic equipment following an extensive evaluation of the company’s P2 products, which will be deployed as part of the channel’s migration to tapeless video production. The transition of the news production department to a tapeless infrastructure will take place this summer, facilitated by Moscow-based systems integrator Okno TV, the general contractor for the project.
The AJ-SPX800 DVCPRO P2 features solid-state memory recording and IT domain integration, elevating digital video acquisition to a new level of speed and cost efficiency. This P2 camcorder combines a high-performance 2/3-inch 3-CCD camera with 24fps and 30fps progressive and 60 fields interlace recording in 25Mbps DVCPRO and 50Mbps DVCPRO50 format on a P2 card.
The camcorder’s solid-state memory ensures high reliability and resistance to environmental hazards, such as shock, vibration, cold, dust, moisture and humidity. Acquired images are stored on a P2 card using the MXF file format to ensure IT compatibility for file transfer.
The highly portable and lightweight AJ-HPM100 mobile P2 solid-state memory recorder enhances DVCPRO HD field production in numerous applications including playlist editing, transferring and copying P2 content, backup recording for live broadcasts, and playback for transmission via satellite back to the broadcast facility.
Like the AJ-SPX800, the AJ-HPM100 offers DVCPRO HD P2 solid-state memory recording for high reliability and a significant reduction in maintenance costs, a longer useful product life, and immediate access to recorded video and metadata.
More information on the AJ-SPX800, AJ-HPM100, and other Panasonic products is available at www.panasonic-broadcast.com.
