Expanded Options On VPS Digital Switchers Announced

FOR-A Corporation, a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, has introduced expanded input/output options for its VPS series of digital switchers, including the VPS-700 GINGA and the all-new VPS-715 GINGA 1.5 M/E switcher.
The launch took place at the international NAB 2008 trade show in Las Vegas earlier this month.
The VPS-700 has already been widely installed internationally. Its new companion SD switcher, the VPS-715, has been designed to capitalize on that success.
The slightly larger VPS-715, a 1.5 M/E version of the VPS-700, features a large control panel to assure user-friendly operation. Both the VPS-700 and the VPS-715 switchers include frame synchronizer for every input, six keyers, and six channels of 3D DVE.
The VPS-715 also includes a VPS-70FR Flash Recorder Option, which is currently available. This provides for 120 seconds of uncompressed video recording and two channels (Key/Fill) with simultaneous playback for video insert, CG wipe or slow motion playback. The switcher’s Fader link function allows for manual playback control as well. The VPS-715 is equipped with redundant power supplies as standard.
The popularity of the VPS Series switchers for the SD market has led to the development of new I/O options. The new HD I/O options provide broadcasters with a cost-effective solution to meet the challenge of switching video formats and extend the life of existing equipment inventory.
VPS-70HDI is a four-input HD-SDI expansion card that extends the options available for users of the VPS-715 and VPS-700. It incorporates a frame synchronizer, still store, process amplifier functions and a down-converter. Up to two cards can be installed per switcher, with a maximum expansion of 8 inputs.
The VPS-70HDO is a four-output HD-SDI expansion card that enables up-converted HD or SD-SDI outputs. It also enables free assignment of outputs. One card can be installed per switcher.
The VPS-700 offers an optional 2D DVE in every input, delivering up to 32 DVE channels and total flexibility for multi-source productions. It supports the 525/60 and 625/50 standard definition formats and is ideally suited for mobile production and in-studio broadcasting applications. It features eight standard inputs, each of which has a frame synchronizer and still store feature using the F/S freeze and eight standard outputs, which can be increased by increments of four to up to 16 primary inputs, 16 outputs and six key layers (four keyers and two DSK).
The VPS-70HDI four-input HD-SDI and the VPS-70HDO four-output HD-SDI expansion cards will be available in August of this year.
